FAQs
How do you price your murals?
At Legacy Murals, every mural is custom—because every wall, every space, and every story is unique. We price murals by the square foot, and several factors help determine your estimate, including:
Indoor vs. outdoor location
Surface type (brick, stucco, concrete, wood, etc.)
Whether priming or extra prep is needed
Level of detail and design complexity
Travel distance from Red Wing
Whether lifts or special equipment are required
Outdoor murals often need additional coats and specialized paint to hold up to Minnesota weather, which can affect pricing.
Once I learn more about your project, I’ll put together a personalized estimate that reflects your wall, your vision, and your needs.
What are your starting prices?
Legacy Murals’ base rates:
Indoor murals: $20 per sq ft
Outdoor murals: $25 per sq ft
Basic window painting: $50 and up
Final pricing varies depending on detail, materials, wall condition, and design time.
What if the estimate is more than my budget?
No worries at all! If the estimate exceeds your budget, I can adjust the design to better fit your price range. This may include:
Scaling down the size
Simplifying the design
Reducing the number of colors
Lowering the detail level
My goal is always to help you get a mural you love—one that still feels personal, meaningful, and beautiful—while keeping everything fair for both of us.
What is the process?
Getting started with Legacy Murals is simple and flexible:
1. Share your vision
Send me the wall details, dimensions, ideas, and any inspiration images.
2. Choose how you’d like to connect
We can discuss your project by phone, email, text, or in person.
For in-person site visits farther than 30 miles from Red Wing, a $200 estimate fee is required.
This fee is fully deducted from your total mural cost if you move forward.
3. Receive a rough estimate
If you already have a budget in mind, we start from that to make sure we’re designing realistically.
4. Secure your project
For murals that require custom design work, a 50% down payment is required before I begin designing.
This reserves your spot on my schedule and allows me to begin your concept artwork.
5. Review and refine your design
I create your custom design, and we refine it together until it’s exactly what you want.
6. Painting day!
On your scheduled start date, I arrive ready to bring your mural to life with care, passion, and attention to detail.
